Worship and water-birds
Nodol Pagoda, about 40 kilometers south of Tra Vinh Township in the Mekong Delta, is home to thousands of storks.
A few storks sit in the trees and bamboo at Nodol Pagoda. The rest of the flock will return at sunset
The colorful Khmer pagoda in Dai An Commune, Tra Cu District, Tra Vinh Province has a rectangular archway entrance, towers to store the remains of the dead and apartments for monks. It has a curved roof with dragon sculptures and effigies of Khmer gods such as Riehu, Mohabrom, Kayno and Mahaknot.
The century old building that is also called Giong Lon Pagoda or Co Pagoda is surrounded by bamboo groves, large trees and rice fields. Thousands of storks roost there overnight and head off early in the morning to their feeding grounds.
