I'm in Vietnam, I like it

After our course in university in Berlin, I and my boyfriend came to Vietnam where is his mother's hometown. It's an exciting travelling. We had good time in Ha Long Bay, Cat Ba Seaside and Pagodas in Ha Tay (belong Hanoi now) such as Huong Pagoda, Thay Pagoda... Now we're in Hanoi. Wherever we passed, we discovered and enjoyed that area's specialities. Coming to Halong bay and Cat Ba seaside, we enjoyed many kinds of seafoods, I like it so much. Although my boyfriend was not suitable to crab shrimp because he was tomachache when eating it in Bao Ngoc Restaurant in Cat Ba.
And coming to Ha Tay to visit ancient pagodas, we enjoyed specialities of mountain. It's impressed, too. Goat meat, forest birds, even if snack meat... made us so surprises. It's delicious but I don't trust in that I can eat them. Oh my god! Vietnamese foods is so strange.
Now we're in Hanoi. We have lived at his aunt's house for 4 days. We visited many famous historical place such as Literature Temple, West Lake, Hoan Kiem Lake,.. and especially, old street in Hanoi, it's really special and strange. We come there everyday to discover each way on the Old Street. The Old Street is famous with 36 streets with 36 traditional lines of busy streets.
What did we eat in Hanoi? Oh, both seafoods and specialities of mountain and western European foods which arriving from our hometown. KITI restaurant have all. At the first time, my boyfriend ordered so many dishs because he wanted us to enjoy different foods and choosed the best food. We ordered Vietnamese traditional foods and some European foods. The fact that, I couldn't choose which dish is the best, they're very delicious. The European foods which we still have in meals everyday in our country are very special, they have a strange taste of the private restaurant. After that day, we usually come to Kiti restaurant for our dinner. Coming to Old Street, we known much Vietnamese business and lifestyle culture and coming to Kiti, we understand Vietnamese traditional food culture through lovely waiters.
We have not come back home because we want to discover Hanoi and Vietnam more and more.

I think I want to try their foods. The way you describe it makes it sound so delicious. I hope I can find a restaurant that sells Vietnamese foods here.

I come to Kiti Restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam last week, I and my family had breakfast there with pancakes, sandwiches and milk. I was surprised at taste of pancakes in the restaurant, it's difference to pancakes I ate. I was curious and ask a waiter. She was very enthusiatic to show me how to make pancakes. I took note because I want to make it for my family or friends when I have spare time (although I don't almost have much spare time, we usually come to Kiti Restaurant on breakfast since coming to Vietnam for 6 months). If having a chance you can try it in Kiti restaurant in Vietnam.

A review for Heritage Cruises and the Hoang Lan Hotel, Ha long Bay, Vietnam:

A warning to anyone who wants to book in the Hoang Lan Hotel, DO NOT.

The rooms are unclean, cockroaches running around and we thought we detected signs of bed buds.

What was worse was we asked the advise of the lady, Shoan i think her name was, about arranging a boat trip around Ha Long bay, she said she could arrange for us to be on one of the more luxurious junks on a 2 day tour. She had shown us pictures of the Indochina boat which looked top notch. We arriving at the port there was a lot of waiting around followed by Shoan ushering us towards another guide, he then in turn ushered us to a guide in a Heritage t-shirt. He was to be our guide and wouldn't give us his full name, just the name Bang. After a lot of waiting we asked when we would be boarding the indochina, he said the indochina was being cleaned (which proves he was part of the scam) and we were to take another boat. By this point we had already given our passport to him so had to play ball for now. We took a short boat ride out to our boat, which was a Heritage cruise boat, with half the letter fallen off the side of the boat. The pictures we saw looked nothing like what we had been sold, the rooms were small and the food was inedible. One of the other guest on the tour sleeping on the lower deck heard rats in the night. What was worse was our guide Bang was extremely rude, unhelpful, and knew nothing of interest about Ha Long Bay.

The boat docked several times to drop people off at Cat Ba Island and Monkey Island, Bang would promise he would only be 5 minutes and almost 2 hours later would come back. If we were informed of his timings we would of gone for a swim or just relaxed on the top deck but the continual lack of information was frustrating to say the least. One one kayaking trip, we asked if he would join us kayaking to show us some of the cave, he said "no, he was tired and the kayaking was boring". On another kayaking trip, he guided us out to some cave about 10-15 mins away from the boat and told us to go in, when we exited the cave he was no where to be seen and had gone back to the boat leaving us to find our way back in the dark.

After a lot of complaining we were transferred to another boat. As we were transferring to the dock, one of our friends almost fell in between two boats, there was no assistance from Bang. We transferred to the Dolphin Cruise which was marginally nicer but still not what we had been sold. We made the most of our time in Halong Bay but felt thoroughly ripped off.

I would urge any one considering a tour in ha Long bay not to book through the Hoang Lan Hotel or through Heritage tours. They are liars and scam artists.

We traveled for the majority of our trip with GAP Adventures and I cannot recommend them more highly.

I'm also in Vietnam, travelling with my girl friend. If the pankcake of Kiti Restaurant is really good, I'll come there to enjoy. We often go across the restaurant when we go for a walk Hoan Kiem Lake and The Old Quarter Street. And we have had a dinner in the restaurant, but the Chicken schnitzel in Orange sauce is very expensive so my girl friend don't come back there. But I'll come back the restaurant because we see that there're not any restaurant having the chicken schnitzel in Orange sance better.
