    Vietnam Attractions

Most visitors to Vietnam are overwhelmed by the sublime beauty of the country's natural setting: the Red River Delta in the north, the Mekong Delta in the south and almost the entire coastal strip are a patchwork of brilliant green rice paddies tended by women in conical hats.

There are some divine beaches along the coast, while inland there are soaring mountains, some of which are cloaked by dense, misty forests. Vietnam also offers an opportunity to see a country of traditional charm and rare beauty rapidly opening up to the outside world.

Vietnam is a country has something for everyone. If you are a nature buff then, with either the country's beaches, mountains, tropical forests and even a Sahara-like desert – Mui Ne – this is the place to be.

The Halong Bay is one of world’s natural wonders and is one of the top tourist attractions in Vietnam. The literal meaning of “Halong” is “Bay of Descending Dragons”. A local legend says that a family of dragons was sent to defend the land long ago when the Vietnamese were fighting the Chinese invaders.

I really enjoyed Hue, as well. It’s a very different feel. More like an open-air museum with some stunning architecture. It’s definitely worth a few days when you’re traveling in central Vietnam, for sure.

Sapa is a good place for those who look for jungle trekking and the rich culture of hill tribe people. It is easily reached from Hanoi by the daily overnight trains Hanoi - Laocai.
