Hi all, being new to this whole seo thing, and I search to build a 'network' of links to my website..I'm confused to what the actual difference is between a link farm and directory..are they not in essence the same thing?

I was originally led to believe its good to get links in website directories....but bad to use link farms...so..whats the difference between the 2?

Website directory is always best as it listing in internet for long time.. it helps in site back link also....

A link farm is mere collection of links with no set categories under which the links are placed. It is like a prostitutes that accept everything and anything especially the auto approval.

On the other hand Directories are not only a collection of links but the links have been categorized under relevant topics and sites that are listed only after they undergo editorial review.
