What about the currency in Cuba?

I want to make sure, if I can take american dollars to cuba, how much is the fine to pay? just wondering, since I heard 20% is the fine for changing US dollars for Cuban pesos.

Is there any way to buy Cuban pesos outside Cuba? could be with travel agency, I don't know. Pls I really appreciate your comments.

    Thank you

Yes its true .. American dollar have a fine of 20% so for 1USD you get 0.80 CUC. In Cuba exist 2 currencies, CUC and CUP, the standar change is 1 CUC for 24 CUP. And foreign currencies are changed into CUC and after you can change into CUP (Cuban Pesos) Anyways all touristic places you have to pay in CUC so i recommend to not change CUC into CUPs only when you really need it (only few times i can tell you). Hope it helps
